Modifying the Text Labels in PeoplePassword Recovery Center and Enrollment Center

This article is about changing the text in Web Active Directory’s PeoplePassword management solution.

Every organization has different requirements when it comes to passwords and communicating with users.   PeoplePassword allows any label within the Recovery Center and Enrollment Center to be customized to your organizations needs.   Maybe you want to support a different language or inform the user about password complexity requirements.  With the use of resource files PeoplePassword makes this possible.

Before making any changes be sure to backup a copy of the files below just in case you want to revert back.

Enrollment Center Resource File Path:  C:\ProgramFiles\WebActiveDirectory\PeoplePassword\EnrollmentCenter\WadAppResources.default.xml

Recovery Center Resource File Path:  C:\ProgramFiles\WebActiveDirectory\PeoplePassword\RecoveryCenter\WadAppResources.default.xml

Once these files are backed up, you are now free to edit any text values using the instructions below:
  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Navigate to the PeoplePassword installation directory, typically at C:\ProgramFiles\WebActiveDirectory\PeoplePassword
  3. Open either the RecoveryCenter Folder or EnrollmentCenter Folder depending on which website you want to edit.
  4. Open up the WebAppResources.default.xml file in your favorite text editor.  (Note: You will need to launch with Administrator privileges)
  5. Do a search for the label value you want do modify,  (Typically Ctrl F  in most Text Editors) make the changes and save them to the file.
  6. Finally,  refresh PeoplePassword web application in your browser to see the new text label values appear.
